MEN'S GILETS & BODYWARMERS
A gilet keeps the core warm and leaves the arms free, which makes it a practical layer between a jumper and a jacket.
Constructions
Padded and quilted styles add insulation and work as an outer layer through autumn or under a heavyweight jacket in winter. Softshell and lighter shell gilets do more for wind than warmth.
Fit and hoods
A gilet should sit closer than a jacket, with armholes cut wide enough to clear a jumper underneath. A hood suits an outer layer; without one it sits more cleanly under a jacket. See golf gilets for the course and lightweight jackets for sleeves.
